What’s New for the 2018 Maserati Levante?
Introduced as the first ever Maserati sport utility vehicle, the Levante stands tall. It has the incredible beauty and quality you’d expect from the Italian automaker, but the vehicle trades in sedan goodness for cargo hauling capability. Now available in GranLusso and GranSport trims, this winning combination has real character. From the curb, onlookers may not even know this is a utility vehicle. The larger size is disguised by sumptuous curves and blacked-out pillars. A true ultra-luxury vehicle, the Levante doesn’t leave the seats to chance. These comfort chairs power-adjust 12 ways. Pre-set configurations are available with the standard memory function. Radica open-pore wood and other fine materials are used to trim the cabin. Premium Italian leather may be all you need for luxury. However, Maserati is also offering a special Zegna upholstery with its Silk Edition. A Zegna silk jersey can trim the sunshades, the door panels, and the roof lining. A macro-chevron weave is embellished by delicate micro-chevron hand-stitched patterns on the upholstery. Soft-close doors can welcome you each time you enter. You can lower the SUV to a Park setting for easy exit.
Powerful engines are on tap for this model. The first is a twin turbo three-liter V6. This powertrain cranks out 345 horsepower, making you forget this is an SUV. Levante S editions can crank out 425 horsepower. This allows them to trim another second off of the 0-60 mph sprint. Reportedly, the Levante S makes the sprint in just 5.2 seconds. Q4, Maserati all-wheel drive, is standard. The SUV is the only one in its class to utilize a mechanical limited slip differential for the best torque splits. You also get an eight-speed automatic for precision response. Maserati engineers spent much of their time on the Levante’s tuning, making sure that this SUV would drive like you expect a Maserati to drive. The advanced air suspension can be raised for more ground clearance or lowered for greater aerodynamics. There are six settings to be used at the driver’s discretion. As part of the Maserati Highway Assist System, drivers will enjoy adaptive cruise control that can stop, slow or go according to traffic patterns. A forward collision system includes autonomous braking. A lane keeping assist prevents the vehicle from straying into another car’s lane. The blind spot system is one of the few that can actively intervene to prevent a possible collision.
