Maserati makes beautiful, exotic cars that marry performance with design. Two of its large sedans are the 2018 versions of Ghibli and Quattroporte. Ghibli is the carmaker’s entry-level sedan, while the Quattroporte is Maserati’s flagship. Both share a devotion to Italian design, with sumptuous cabins and flowing exteriors. The Quattroporte is the larger car, almost a foot longer than the Ghibli, with a 6.8-inch longer wheelbase. Both have received important updates in recent years to keep them ahead of the competition.
The Ghibli and Ghibli S are equipped with a 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 making 345 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque. Ghibli S Q4’s version of the engine puts out 424 horsepower and 428 lb-ft of torque. Quattroporte S and S Q4 use the same engine as the Ghibli S Q4, whereas Quattroporte GTS comes with a 3.8-liter twin-turbo V8 outputting 523 horsepower and 524 lb-ft of torque. All models use an 8-speed automatic transmission with multiple shift modes and paddle shifters. The Q4 models are AWD vehicles, the others are RWD.
The 2018 Ghibli has an impressive cabin featuring comfortable seats, premium leather or exotic silk, and open-pore wood trim. The driver’s seat has 12-way power adjustment and a memory function. The front grille draws upon classic model and boasts chromed bars, topped by V-shaped arching hood. Maserati Touch Control Plus includes an elegant 8.4-inch display, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and WiFi hotspot. You can get a 10-speaker, 900-watt Harmon Kardon Premium Sound System, or a Bowers & Wilkins Surround Sound System driving 1,280 watts through 15 speakers.
In addition to the interior’s leather, silk and wood materials, you’ll find premium features like a PIN-protected glove compartment, power rear sun blind, heated rear seats, four-zone climate control and power foot pedals. The imposing-looking Quattroporte has long hood, new adaptive LED headlights, and quad chrome tailpipes. Like the Ghibli, Quattroporte has advanced driver assistance systems that include adaptive cruise control with stop & go, lane keeping assist, rearview camera, front radar system, forward collision warning, advance brake assist, automated emergency braking, active blind spot assist, rear cross path function, and traffic sign recognition.
