Bernie Moreno Companies in the Community

Community Engagement, Charitable Giving and Sponsorships

Cleveland Motorsports Community

Our Bernie Moreno Companies are committed to being an essential part of the social and economic well-being of our communities. We believe that our success is inextricably linked with the growth and vitality of the communities in which we, and our clients, operate and live. Our culture of community engagement is exemplified through our volunteerism, philanthropy, non-financial support, and the civic engagement of our team members. We use a strategic approach with our community engagement thereby building productive, mutually rewarding, and long-term relationships with non-profit organizations.

All team members are encouraged to support recognized 501 ( c ) (3) charitable organizations in the communities in which they live or work. Team Members are supported in their volunteer activities with up to 1.5 days of paid – time off each year. In addition, the Team Member Charitable Gift Matching Program provides Bernie Moreno Companies financial support for non-profits supported by team members.

Our senior leadership team serves on the boards and committees of a variety of leading non-profit organizations. They generously give of their time and talents to make the communities in which we operate stronger.

Each year we bestow the Community Champion Award to a Team Member whose community service is inspirational and therefore exemplifies our commitment to community.

Funding Guidelines

We are pleased that our success allows us the opportunity to support organizations that reflect our core values. Our priority areas of focus are education and economic development with an emphasis on economically disadvantaged children and youth. Our charitable support is limited to educational and economic development organizations that qualify as non-profit and tax exempt in accordance with Section 501 ( c ) (3) of the U.S. Internal Revenue Code. Priority is given to requests that foster long term, systemic community solutions and foster collaboration. Requests for on-going day-to-day operations receive less priority. Bernie Moreno Companies receives requests for support that far exceed our ability to respond affirmatively. Regrettably, we must often decline support for worthwhile initiatives and projects.

Funding Restrictions

We do not consider support or funding for:

  • Organizations that deny service, or, in any way, limit the involvement of individuals on the basis of race, religion, color, sex, sexual orientation, age, national origin or disability status
  • Direct grants to individuals
  • Political or legislative activities
  • Fraternal, religious, labor, athletic or social organizations / loans or second-party giving
  • Athletic sponsorship for teams or events
